There’s something magical about fall in the city—the way the crisp air fills your lungs, the golden light filtering through colorful leaves, and the gentle hum of life around you. When Emily and Cory reached out wanting photos to decorate their home—photos that felt like them and their love—we knew a cozy and romantic fall session would be perfect. They wanted something special, not staged or overdone, and Logan Circle quickly rose to the top of our list.
Logan Circle is a dream in the fall. With its tall, historic buildings, vibrant neighborhoods, and iconic gingko trees, it’s a perfect mix of classic charm and urban beauty. I spent some time scouting the area and brainstorming how we could bring their vision to life, and when the day came, the pieces fell into place beautifully.
We started the shoot at Le Diplomate, a quintessential D.C. spot with European vibes that set the tone for their session. Emily and Cory ordered cappuccinos and fell into their natural rhythm, chatting and laughing together as the world moved quietly around them. I stayed in the background, capturing the way they looked at each other, the subtle touches, and the laughter that spilled out as the fall breeze rustled the trees outside. To our surprise, the restaurant staff joined in the magic of the moment, sending over a glass of champagne for the couple to toast to their love. Those images of them clinking glasses under the golden light are some of my favorites.
Afterward, we wandered through the surrounding streets, where Logan Circle truly showed off its autumn glow. The gingko trees were alive with vibrant yellows, their leaves carpeting the sidewalks in a way that felt straight out of a storybook. Emily and Cory strolled hand in hand, laughing as they kicked up leaves, pausing for sweet moments where their connection shone through effortlessly. It’s always my goal to draw out those little moments—the ones that feel like a true reflection of who my couples are—and with these two, it happened so naturally.
We wrapped up the session at the heart of Logan Circle itself, where the park’s benches provided the perfect spot for a final set of photos. Emily leaned into Cory as they sat under the canopy of trees, and the whole world seemed to quiet down for just a moment. The resulting images are cozy, romantic, and full of the kind of warmth you can feel.
This session with Emily and Cory was everything I love about photographing couples: it was fun, easy, and full of genuine connection. Capturing their love story as it unfolded through the little moments was such a joy, and I can already imagine these photos gracing the walls of their home, bringing them back to this crisp, golden afternoon every time they see them.
If you’re dreaming of a session that’s as much about the experience as it is about the photos, let’s make it happen. Whether it’s a cozy fall stroll, an adventurous mountaintop elopement, or anything in between, I’d love to capture the story that’s uniquely yours. Reach out, and let’s create something beautiful together.
