When Misha reached out to me to help plan his proposal to Allie, I knew this one would be especially unforgettable. On Saturday, December 14th, Ally’s day began just like any other. Her friend Martha, in on the secret, told Ally that they were heading to an event at the National Portrait Gallery. “Get dressed up,” Martha said, “We have something exciting to do!” The idea of a fancy outing was enough to get Ally in the right headspace, but she had no idea what was coming next.
Misha and I met up before Ally arrived at the museum, fine-tuning the details. Misha was already waiting in a vibrant corner of the museum atrium surrounded by festive Poinsettia flowers for the moment of truth: in just a short time, Ally would arrive, completely unaware of what was about to unfold.
