A Dreamy Utah Adventure With Skylar & Lucas
When Skylar and Lucas reached out to me about wanting elopement-style portraits in an epic landscape, I immediately said yes—and hopped on a plane from Washington, DC to Utah. They were already married, but like so many couples, they didn’t have photos that truly felt them—so they decided to do things their way and plan an intentional, adventurous shoot to celebrate their love.
Cue: the Bonneville Salt Flats.
Destination-Worthy Love, Right in the Middle of Nowhere
After landing in Utah, I picked up my rental car and drove 1.5 hours out to Wendover. The journey itself was wild—vast desert roads, endless sky, and a surreal landscape where everything looks like it belongs on another planet. The Salt Flats were clean, calm, and unbelievably beautiful.
This May day could not have been more perfect. Clear blue skies, a soft breeze, and the kind of sunset that makes you stop mid-shoot and say “are you seeing this too??” The salt sparkled underfoot, and the horizon line just melted into the sky in the most unreal way. When the sun dipped below the mountains, it cast this dreamy blue-pink light over everything. It was cinematic. It was magic.

Skylar and Lucas brought so much warmth, joy, and trust into this session. They weren’t afraid to move, dance, laugh, and just be with each other in the moment. And that’s what makes photos like these sing—not just a cool location, but connection. You can feel the way they love each other in every frame.
