Earlier this year, I set out to get to know some of my favorite restaurants in Washington, DC a little better. These restaurants feel a little more off the beaten path and they are true gems! They all have their own personality and charm and any of them would be a phenomenal choice for a wedding, rehearsal dinner, or welcome party!

While I was there, I captured photos and got to know the flow of each space so I could share a clearer picture of what celebrating here might actually feel like. If you’re dreaming of a wedding weekend in DC that feels stylish, intimate, and a little unexpected, these spots are a great place to start. ✨

La Grande Boucherie

Parisian brasserie meets Art Nouveau

Walking into La Grande Boucherie feels like stepping into a glamorous Paris restaurant from another era. The soaring gold ceilings, ornate detailing, and gilded age art give the space a dramatic, almost cinematic quality that photographs beautifully. It’s lively and elegant at the same time — perfect for couples who want a celebratory, high-energy reception that still feels sophisticated.

Max capacity:
• Up to ~140 seated for large private rooms or partial buyouts
• Full restaurant buyout possible depending on layout

Planning notes:
• Works well for rehearsal dinners or wedding receptions with a European vibe
• Multiple spaces allow for cocktail hour + seated dinner transitions
• Stunning natural light during the day from the skylight

Minetta Tavern

Classic New York-style tavern with vintage charm

Minetta Tavern has a timeless, old-school atmosphere that feels both glamorous and relaxed. Dark wood interiors, leather banquettes, and warm lighting give the space a moody, intimate feel — perfect for a celebratory dinner that still feels effortless. Tucked upstairs, their Lucy Mercer Bar feels like slipping into a secret late-night speakeasy. Named after Franklin D. Roosevelt’s longtime mistress Lucy Mercer, the space leans into a playful sense of intrigue — with velvet sofas, antique lamps, chandeliers, and portraits that give the room a slightly decadent, old-world mood. The design draws inspiration from opulent French interiors, creating a moody, romantic setting that feels more like a private club than a restaurant bar.

It’s an ideal spot for intimate celebrations that feel elevated but not overly formal — think rehearsal dinners, welcome cocktails, or a wedding after-party where guests can linger over martinis, champagne, and indulgent bites like caviar, truffle flatbreads, and wagyu carpaccio. The lounge is intentionally designed for conversation, even encouraging a phone-free atmosphere so guests stay present in the moment.

Max capacity:
• ~80–100 guests for full buyout
• Smaller private spaces available

Planning notes:
• Ideal for rehearsal dinners or welcome parties
• Intimate lighting creates beautiful evening ambiance
• The tavern-style layout encourages conversation and mingling

Reynold’s & Casamara

Retro cocktail lounge with a glamorous nightlife edge

Reynold’s brings a sense of classic nightlife back to Dupont Circle. Tucked inside The SIXTY DC hotel, the space nods to the building’s past life as a legendary DC nightclub while leaning into a more refined, cocktail-forward atmosphere today. Inside you’ll find velvet seating, jewel-toned interiors, dark wood accents, and a dramatic marble bar that anchors the room. The lighting is low and warm, creating that unmistakable “late-night lounge” energy that feels equal parts glamorous and intimate.

For wedding celebrations, Reynold’s is ideal for stylish welcome parties, rehearsal drinks, or after-parties where guests can gather around the bar, sip martinis, and settle into the night.

Casamara is a stunning restaurant and bar in the SIXTY DC hotel, offering a complimentary energy from Reynold’s upstairs. The space also feels warm, moody, and transportive — with greenery, soft neutral tones, and a large central bar in the center of the room to encourage conversation. The restaurant also extends to a rooftop upstairs, acting as a vibrant, social setting with sweeping views over Dupont Circle.

Max capacity:
• Reynold’s: ~50–75 guests for a cocktail-style reception depending on layout

• Casamara: ~100–120 guests for cocktail-style receptions with smaller seated dinners available depending on layout

Planning notes:
• The Hotel, restaurant & rooftop combination creates the perfect guest experience for intimate or larger weddings, all housed in the same place.
• Works especially well for cocktail-forward gatherings rather than formal seated dinners
• Moody lighting and layered interiors create a great atmosphere for evening celebrations
