There’s something about the Idaho mountains that feels like coming home. Maybe it’s because I’m originally from Boise, or maybe it’s just the wild beauty of this place—but every time I find myself back here, it’s like stepping into a part of my soul.

As Boise locals, Jessi and Colin embody the spirit of the outdoors. Their lives are an endless adventure of hiking, skiing, cycling, and chasing new trails together. For their anniversary, we set out to capture that very essence of who they are—partners in life and in exploration.

Bogus Basin, a beloved winter ski destination turned summer haven for hikers and cyclists, was the perfect backdrop for their story. The windy mountain roads, the evergreen pines, and breathtaking views in every direction set the stage for an evening filled with laughter, love, and connection. We explored trails, stopped at sun-drenched overlooks, and let the beauty of the Idaho wilderness guide us.

For me, this session felt like coming home. Though I now call Washington, D.C. my home base, the West will always be a core part of who I am. I grew up here in Boise, surrounded by the mountains and vibrant summer sunsets that shaped my love for nature and adventure. That connection to the elements—both outside and within—is something I carry into every photograph I take.

Jessi and Colin’s session reminded me why I’m so passionate about capturing love stories outdoors. There’s an authenticity that comes with being in nature—a freedom and calmness that allows people to truly be themselves. Whether it’s a couples session, an elopement, or a wedding, the great outdoors brings out a raw and unfiltered beauty that’s hard to replicate anywhere else.
