Last summer, Sabrina planned the sweetest surprise for her girlfriend, Haley — a secret proposal tucked away in one of Georgetown’s most beautiful hidden gems, Tudor Place.

Even though Haley had already proposed, Sabrina wanted her to have that magical, heart-racing, totally unexpected moment too. Haley arrived thinking we were simply taking engagement photos, wandering through the shaded gardens as summer sunlight filtered through massive old trees. What she didn’t know was that just around the corner, in a secret garden all to themselves, Sabrina was about to pop the question.

The moment Haley realized what was happening, she burst into tears — the happy, overwhelmed, can’t-stop-smiling kind. The two of them were so giddy, expressive, and full of joy, soaking in every second together. It was one of those moments that was emotional even for me to witness — pure love, excitement, and so much happiness.

Tudor Place is truly a perfect location for couples. It’s a historic manor home in Georgetown with sprawling gardens filled with lush greenery, colorful blooms, and beautiful flora and fauna year round. In the summer especially, the trees create natural shade that makes it feel peaceful, intimate, and private — perfect for proposals and romantic engagements. (There is a $100 permit required for photoshoots, but it’s well worth it for such a stunning and serene backdrop.)

Sabrina and Haley’s session was full of laughter, tears, and so much love — a reminder that every proposal story is unique, and sometimes the best surprises are the ones filled with intention and heart.

If you’re dreaming of a romantic, natural location to get engaged in DC, Tudor Place is truly one of my favorite hidden gems ✨
