I’ve been in a sentimental mood lately and memories from Alexa and Clayton’s October wedding day at Rust Manor House keeps finding their way back to me. This wedding day has stuck with me— not because they made a big statement, but because of how connected, kind, and present everyone was. This was easily one of my favorite weddings of the year.

From the moment we arrived at the Manor, it was clear that this wedding wasn’t about performance. It was about feeling. About slowing down and being fully there with the people who matter most to them. I spent the morning capturing Alexa in the bridal suite while Katelyn captured Clayton getting ready with his guys. Alexa’s morning was filled with genuine laughter, the glow of excitement, and music that turned the room into a spontaneous dance party.

I love getting to create with the small, intentional details couples choose to share with me. Heirloom watches told their own heartfelt story, like the pocket watch Clayton carried with him all day that once belonged to his father. Alexa hand-wrote letters to each of her bridesmaids, gifting them each bracelets engraved with words that reflected both their bond and the values they share — sana, levity, fortis, and eunoia. Each one was chosen as a reminder of what those friendships mean to her and the role they’ve played in her life. It was clear to me from the start how intentional this day was, and how deeply Alexa and Clayton value the people who show up for them.

They even rented a vintage video camcorder from The Wedding Weekender (truly a genius idea) and invited family members to capture snippets of the day as it unfolded. It was so sweet and unfiltered — a wedding documented not just through my lens, but through the eyes of the people who love them most.

One of the most touching moments of the day came early on: Alexa’s first look with her dad, Jeff. It was emotional even for me, as a witness to their lives for the first time, and this moment really anchored the joyous and heartfelt feeling for the rest of the day. You could see how close Alexa and her dad are, and capturing that bond felt especially meaningful, knowing these are the moments they’ll cherish for years to come.

Shortly after, Alexa and Clayton shared their first look beneath the magnolia tree behind the manor. High school sweethearts with a connection that runs deep, they were absolutely glowing. You could feel it the second they saw each other — the ease between them, the certainty, and the way they move through the world side by side. Their love story was written all over their faces.

Taking family portraits in the warm afternoon sunlight felt easy and unforced — full of movement, laughter, and openness. It was such a joy to witness and capture both sides of their lives coming together as one big family.

Their ceremony took place in Rust Manor’s back garden, a space they loved for its stone steps and natural beauty. Surrounded by their closest people and officiated by Clayton’s uncle, their ceremony felt intimate and sincere. An unplugged announcement invited everyone to stay fully present, and a memorial chair honored loved ones who couldn’t be there in person — a subtle, meaningful reminder of how much family matters to them.

Witnessing their families surround them with so much happiness, support, and encouragement was incredibly moving. Even though I had just met everyone that day, it felt like being welcomed into one big family — the kind where everyone genuinely shows up for one another. That feeling stayed with me long after the day ended.

As cocktail hour began, Alexa and Clayton took time to soak it all in before sunset, lingering together while the light softened around the manor. Later, guests gathered under the reception tent for introductions, heartfelt toasts, and their first dance to “Never Fade” by Jack Johnson — a song that felt like a promise rather than a performance.

As the night unfolded, the energy shifted into pure joy & celebration. Alexa changed into her STUNNING after-party dress, the dance floor filled, and moments became looser, louder, and more alive. Flash photography and movement captured the feeling exactly as it was — cinematic, imperfect, and full of joy. The night closed with a final song shared with their guests, followed by a private last dance just for the two of them. Grounding, intentional, and deeply theirs.

It was a beautiful moment in time — a day I’ll always remember. These photos hold that feeling so well, and I’m endlessly grateful to have been there to witness and document it. Thanks to our team for helping bring it to life & congrats to the Hornings!! ♡
