December in Washington, D.C. is by far my favorite month here because of the magical, uplifting feeling everywhere in the city. Jessica & Joe’s wedding at The Perry Belmont House was the perfect embodiment of the warm holiday feeling, and it was my honor to help capture this celebratory spirit with them. I had the pleasure of shooting alongside Oscar Navarre for this one, and from start to finish, the day was pure elegance and love.

We began our day at The Hay-Adams, capturing getting ready moments & details of Jessica & Joe’s story. Oscar encouraged me to play with my film camera throughout the day, which added a nostalgic, timeless quality to these early moments—classic and cinematic, just like the city itself.

Then we headed to the Perry Belmont House, one of D.C.’s most iconic venues. Built in the early 20th century by Perry Belmont, this grand mansion has long been known as the “party house” for dignitaries and socialites, hosting some of Washington’s most elegant gatherings. Walking through its historic halls felt like stepping into a bygone era of glamour and sophistication.

The ceremony took place in a golden room that sparkled with refinement and romance. And the reception—oh, the reception. The grand ceiling felt like stepping onto the movie set of Titanic, and everywhere you looked, red roses cascaded over metallic mirrored tablescapes, dripping with elegance. It was jaw-dropping, and capturing it through my lens was absolutely thrilling.

The decor they chose working with design team Marriage & Mimosas was breathtaking in its simplicity and intensity: the only color used was red. Red roses everywhere, from delicate touches in the wedding party personals to dramatic tablescapes. The color stood out beautifully against the wintery magic in the photos.

Portraits of the couple were effortlessly stunning, the love between them radiating in every frame. Their families were so warm, kind and joyful, filling the day with laughter and connection that made photographing them a dream come true.

Working alongside such a talented photo team made the day even more special. The love, the history, the grandeur, and the little intimate moments all came together to create images I’ll never forget. A December wedding at the Perry Belmont House is more than a celebration—it’s a storybook of love, color, and timeless elegance.
