There are some weddings that feel like stepping into a painting, and Angela and Kyle’s September celebration near Middleburg was exactly that.

Tucked away on a private estate that felt more like the English countryside than Virginia, the entire day unfolded in the kind of warm sunlight and gentle breeze you can’t plan for, but always hope for.

I arrived that morning to the dreamiest scene— winding roads leading to a quiet countryside home, with the ceremony space set perfectly between tall trees, filtering beautiful golden light. The scene felt almost suspended in time. That day, I was second shooting alongside the incredibly talented Madi Pere, who, at eight months pregnant, floated through the day with her film camera in hand like it was second nature. I was there to support her team and capture the in-between moments. I had no idea just how breathtaking the day would become.

Inside the house, I was amazed by how intentional and timeless everything felt. The interiors were classic and refined, with this romantic, woodsy, cottage feel that made you feel right at home. Angela got ready surrounded by her closest friends, and one of the most meaningful moments of the morning was photographing her with her mom. There was such a sweet tenderness between them, especially when her mom gifted her a sapphire bracelet—her something blue.

And then Angela stepped into her dress.

Truly one of the most stunning gowns I’ve ever seen—satiny, structured yet billowy, and elegant in a way that felt both effortless and regal. We took her outside for bridal portraits just after she got dressed, and I still think about that light, the way it wrapped around her and the way she carried herself. They might be my favorite bridal portraits I’ve ever taken.

Their first look happened beside a stone cottage on the property, tucked away in the quiet. It was one of those moments where everything slows down—just the two of them, taking it all in, seeing each other fully for the first time that day.

And then, in true adventure fashion, we all piled into ATVs and rode across a stone bridge to another part of the estate.

On the other side was an entirely different landscape—wide open fields of marigolds stretching out beyond us, and another stunning home waiting in the distance. We photographed the wedding party there, surrounded by color and open sky, and I remember thinking I couldn’t imagine a more perfect place for it.

Inside that house, I found one of my favorite portrait locations of the day—a deep forest green room where Kyle got ready. It felt straight out of a Ralph Lauren campaign. Moody, rich, classic. The kind of space that makes you slow down and really see what you’re capturing.

Before the ceremony, I found Kyle upstairs, tucked away writing his vows. A quiet, grounding moment in the middle of all the buzz. Those are the photos that have stuck with me the most.

The ceremony itself was beautiful and inviting. I stayed back with the wedding party as they walked down the aisle, capturing those in-between exchanges, and one moment I’ll never forget was Angela with her dad just before she walked. Adjusting her veil, taking a breath together. It was soft, real and full of love.

Afterward, cocktail hour unfolded across the lawn, and every detail felt like an extension of the setting. A circular wooden bar wrapped around a tree. Earthy florals spilled out of every corner. Escort cards nestled into moss and fresh blooms. Guests mingling with mini Patron and lime shots in hand. It was elevated, but never overdone—just thoughtful and alive.

Angela and Kyle’s sweet dog made an appearance in a bow tie, completely thrilled by the attention, and I loved getting to spend time with their families, especially their grandparents, who were just glowing with joy.

When it came time for reception details, Madi handed me the reins, and I couldn’t have been more excited.

The tent was unreal. Draped in rich brown velvet around the band stage, with a black and white checkered dance floor anchoring the space. Tables layered in mocha velvet linens and green plaid patterns created this textured, inviting, and incredibly chic environment. It felt warm and elevated and completely unique to them.

As cocktail hour ended, guests didn’t just wander to the tent—they were led there. The couple at the front, a saxophone player guiding everyone up the hill, and the entire group moving together like a celebration in motion. An iconic photo moment.

At the top of the hill sat a “just married” VW bug, transformed into a drink station, greeting guests as they arrived. Every transition of the day felt intentional, like turning a page in a story.

Reception was full of hugs and mingling, and then the band started.

I don’t think I’ve ever experienced energy like that at a wedding. From the very first note, the entire tent came alive. Guests waving napkins in the air, cheering, fully immersed. Angela and Kyle stepped onto the dance floor for their first dance, and it was electric—spinning, laughing, and they were completely wrapped up in each other.

By the end, everyone had joined them. It felt like a movie scene—the kind you don’t quite believe is real until you’re standing in it.

As twilight settled in, the energy softened into something slower, more reflective. Speeches began, candlelight flickered across the tables, and everything glowed in that warm, golden way that only happens at the end of a really full day. What stood out most was how present everyone was. No phones, no distractions—just people fully there, soaking it in together.

I left that night with that kind of quiet, lasting warmth—the kind that stays with you long after the music ends. The kind that reminds you why days like this matter so much in the first place.

Thank you Madi, Angela and Kyle for including me in this magical day!! I’ll never forget it. ♡
